From 9 September 2024, there will no longer be a doctor's fee in England and Wales when arranging a funeral. This is because from this date, all deaths in England and Wales will be independently viewed, either by a relevant coroner or by a Medical Examiner and the cost will be met by the NHS.
A Medical Examiner is a specifically trained independent senior doctor who will scrutinise all deaths across a local area that do not fall under the coroner's jurisdiction. By providing a greater level of scrutiny over the cause of deaths; it is hoped that the introduction of Medical Examiners will make it less likely that unnatural causes of death will go unnoticed; that the number of deaths unnecessarily referred to the coroner will be reduced and that national data about causes of death will be captured with greater accuracy.
Medical Examiners, or Medical Examiner Officers, will also be available to meet with families, or their representatives, if they wish to discuss the cause of death.
I would definetly recommend F.M&J Wait funeral directors to anyone . The rate of service and compassion i experienced from the time I walked through the door . On the day of the funeral they were outstanding and the compassion I received was exceptional well done all
Very professional and supportive
Staff were professional, helpful and very patient at what was a difficult time - really appreciated
I would like to say how helpful Jackie and Linda were when I arranged my late husbands unattended cremation. My husband hadn't wanted a fuss, and I wanted to use a local company rather than one of the newer multinationals.
The face to face personal touch was important to me, and their pricing was more than competitive.
Cremation 23rd, ashes collected 27th in time for scattering on 29th, what would have been his 70th birthday 💙😇
I could not have asked for more.
Thankyou F.M. & J. Wait Funeral Directors.
We as a family are so thankful to Dignity Waits of Lichfield. From my first contact after mum had passed the whole experience was so reassuring and so smooth. We and Mum were treated with upmost dignity and respect. Linda was amazing and made arranging mum's funeral so easy, she worked so hard to find us what we wanted for mum's final journey. Linda we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Mum had the most beautiful send off and everyone at the funeral commented on how good the funeral directors were, how professional and courteous. The horses that Linda arranged for us were stunning Jack and Woody, mum would have been so proud. Thank you 🙏
